Meet Rorke

Rorke grew up on a farm in a small town in South Africa, finding any excuse to go fishing on weekends or holidays with his family off the East coast. He began his sailing journey by joining a catamaran that sailed from South Africa to Zanzibar hopping from island to anchorage. He later joined a world wide explorer fishing vessel sailing from Seychelles to Brazil via the southern tip of Africa. He was thrilled to complete an Atlantic crossing and did not want to stop there, ticking off bucket list ideas that he only thought were in his wildest dreams. Visiting and exploring some of the most “off the grid” locations like Madagascar, Ascension Island and sailing down the Amazon River quickly created a thirst for adventure.

Following a short stint backpacking through Central America, he joined a large luxury Sports-fisher that cruised the coastlines of Costa Rica chasing billfish. The vessel was not afraid of range and didn’t hesitate to explore distant and different waters across the Pacific Coast and Caribbean, passing through the Panama Canal up to Bermuda. Rorke was also heavily involved in extensive shipyard periods with the boats he worked on, specifically positioned in the engine room. Working with his hands is something he prides himself on and he loves all things engineering related.

Both Rorke & Paige love sharing their passion for the ocean with guests, showcasing the raw beauty of the picturesque islands and the many blues that the ocean has to offer. All just one trip away.

Meet Paige

Paige grew up exploring the rapids of the Great Usutu River and scaling the mountains in the Kingdom of Eswatini. Paige would spend the early mornings exploring the wildlife that surrounded her home, and the orange tinged afternoons dancing through the tall savannah grass. As her story matured, she decided to follow her love of adventure and culture and received her BSc of Psychology in the USA during which the satisfaction of following the intricacies of research grew in all areas in her life. It found her traveling with the Utah Council of Citizen Diplomacy to the One Young World Summit and inspired her to continue seeking out different cultures and common grounds.

Cooking together as a family was a common and humor-filled occasion, with Paige’s Granddad, as the head chef of the their bustling family kitchen. To Paige, food has always been about sharing stories. Understanding the origins of each ingredient and the meaning of each dish to various cultures was the foundation of conversations around the dinner table. Paige always dreamed of being a natural in the kitchen, just like her Granddad. She hopes to continue his story.

After her studies and travels, this is where being a chef on the yachts presented itself. She is thrilled that she has been able to find an intersection between her love for the outdoors, food, and the precision of academics. After attending cooking courses in Cape Town and workshops around the world, Paige aims to tailor an experience for you that will allow you to tell your story for many years.

Guest Reviews

"A dream vacation!! Our only complaint . . . it wasn’t long enough. Paige and Rorke are a power couple. They went above and beyond at every turn. This was our first sailing experience and it couldn’t have been more perfect thanks to this incredible duo. Paige and Rorke knew the spots to have a cocktail, snorkel and simply enjoy the BVI’s beauty. Rorke taught our boys (ages 10 and 12) to wakeboard and assisted in fishing and tubing. Paige’s meals were phenomenal. They made this trip unforgettable in every way. And, the Alora was the perfect fit for our family of 4. We’ve made new friends in Paige and Rorke! We are already planning our next trip. We are so grateful for all you have done! Love by guys!"

"The end… Sitting in the dining room of Alora reflecting on the most magical vacation. It’s hard to put into words how special Rorke and Paige are and how their thoughtfulness and professionalism plays such a vital role in our week spent with them! We felt safe, in the hands of “our” captain and nourished by the meals prepared by “our” chef. When I write “our” I mean they felt like our family. As a family we traveled to the loveliest of beaches and secret hideaways! We snorkeled the prettiest reefs! We shared delicious meals! We laughed and shared stories! We are so thankful for all of the care and attention. Hopefully we will get to sail with them again in the future. Paige and Rorke absolutely made this trip one of our favorites! They are the sweetest, most thoughtful and talented couple. They have taken such great care of us. Even when I got sick on a rough sea - they took great care to make sure I had everything I needed so it wouldn’t happen again. Also, the meals were spectacular! We decided the best meals we had were on the boat! From beautiful table settings to gourmet meals, it was perfect! We actually hate to leave them. There wasn’t ever anything we ever had to ask for, they anticipated everything and had it ready for us. We will always think of them as part of our family. I’m not sure where to begin to thank Paige and Rorke for the week we have spent aboard Alora. To say that they made our trip exceptional is an understatement. They are thoughtful, kind, knowledgeable and precious. Every detail of our trip was masterfully planned. Paige is a culinary genius and Rorke an exceptional captain. Our week went too fast! We hope to stay in touch with them and travel with them again!"

"From start to finish it was a 5 star experience. The boat Alora was better than we expected. Comfortable with a group of 6 adults. Plenty of space to visit as a group and also lots of space to just hang out in groups of 2 or less. Never felt cramped or on top of one another. The crew on the Alora was by far our best experience of the entire week. Rorke and Paige communicated with us about a week prior to our departure and made sure our expectations would be met. They far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped off our water taxi a Scrub Island they were at our service. Every question was answered with a yes and changes to our planned destinations were welcomed. Rorke is an exceptional captain and was always at ease no matter what we encountered. He is even a better young man and truly enjoyed getting to spend the week with him. Paige is a beauty to eye and even more of a beauty at heart. Her culinary skills are impeccable. Her ability to make us feel at home was outstanding. They as a couple are a pure joy to be around. We left with new friends and the hope of future encounters. Honestly, the best vacation my wife and friends have ever experienced!"

Rorke, as captain, displayed a high level of maturity and expertise handling the vessel. He also led our fishing adventures with great success – barracuda, a bonito, and more. Paige is an incredible host and chef, preparing meals, snacks and drinks every day. Everyone was delighted and satisfied and full! Together they created a warm and fun atmosphere, The four of us consider it an all – time favorite experience. We highly recommend them specifically for a terrific adventure."
